Inside Look Into the New Ukrainian Reality and the Role of Nonprofits

New Ukrainian Reality
In the past two weeks, we have seen a terrible humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine. We have seen crimes against humanity and the targeting of civilians. Tragically, the picture below is part of a bomb that was dropped on Olga Guzvah’s home in Ukraine
Olga and I met in 2015 during the National Conference of the French Political Science Association in Aux en Provence, France, where we both presented papers for the IPSA Political Finance and Political Corruption Panel. Now, she is focused on surviving and helping others remain safe during the Russian invasion. The NGO, the Consortium of the Veteran Organization of the East, which she has co-founded, has shifted its focus from providing services to veterans to providing humanitarian support to those affected by the senseless attacks on civilians that we are witnessing unfold in Ukraine.
Role of Ukrainian Nonprofits During the Invasion
I spoke with Olga this past weekend to learn what her new reality was like, the role nonprofits are playing, and what we can all do to help.
Please subscribe to Third Sector News, which will also provide resources and toolkits for managing real-life situations that those working in the nonprofit field experience. For example, this week, we have included a “Nonprofit Website Toolkit”. However, these resources are only available to those that subscribe.
