May 24, 2021As many of us are coming together to celebrate the Thanksgiving Season, it is time to take stock of what we are thankful for. Unsurprisingly, I am thankful for nonprofits, and how they make our world a better place!
“Top 20″ Reasons To Be Thankful for Nonprofits:
1. They prove that everybody matters.
2. They bring out the best in humanity.
3. They strengthen our social fabric.
4. They solve problems that individuals cannot solve on their own without collective action, the mass mobilization of resources, and the coordination of the logistics needed to reach their missions.
5. The most dedicated and sincere people work for and volunteer in nonprofits.
6. They are our social conscience.
7. They align values and practices by operationalizing humane acts.
8. They make our society better by focusing on creating solutions to complex social problems that have plagued us since the beginning of time.
9. They transform terrible situations of despair into opportunities that prove hope and goodness have a place in our world.
10. They are filled with people who are willing to get in the ring to make this world a better place, instead of just complaining about social ailments.
11. They make inroads on countless social needs, including, but not limited to, health, homelessness, hunger, arts, humanities, mental health, literacy, education, disability, social services, leadership development, income inequality, social justice, the environment, etc.
12. They allow people to devote themselves to service by creating a strong, highly specialized, and talented workforce.
13. Nonprofit workers always show up, even when things are uncertain and very hard, despite knowing that they are not going to become wealthy doing nonprofit work.
